"Love's not Time's fool, though rosy lips and cheeks...to the edge of doom. "- Explain

These lines are taken from 'Let me not to the Marriage of True Minds', sonnet no. 116 by William Shakespeare. The poet affirms that true love can never be demolished by time. Time withers everything but love remains unchanged.

The poet asserts the superiority of love of time. True love can never be befooled by time. Time grinds everything into particle of dust but love which hardly comes within the fatal compass of its scythe. Time with its enormous sickle cuts all lovely natural objects into pieces along with men's beautiful creations on earth setting at naught the boast of rosy lips and cheeks, the organs of physical beauty but love is not subjected to its mighty authority. Love remains uneffected, stands steadily, and survive against its assault. While times moves on rapidly and minutes, hours , weeks and years roll on swiftly and continuously, love remains inflexible and unchanged till the doomsday when all creations are likely to be obliterated from the face of the globe.

The lines powerfully bring out the poet's high regard for love . The poet idealizes the constancy in love and places it above time. The personification of Love and Time and the metaphorical expressions of 'rosy lips and cheeks' and 'the edge of doom' are commendable.
