Features of Naturalism in America and the name of major American naturalists.
The term "Naturalism" was coined by Emile Zola, a famous French Writer.
He says that it is kind of literary movement which focuses on observation and the scientific method in the fictitious portrayal of reality.
The most important features of Naturalism are --
1. Detachment, in which the poets completely deviate themselves from their writing. They follow an impersonal point of view.
2. Determinism, in which the writers talk about natural force of the universe. Here the character has nothing to do with his/ her fate. Everything is pre-destined or pre-determined.
3. To the Naturalists, God does not exist anywhere. Frederick Nieztche said that, "God is dead. Humans are just animals."
4. They always think that universe is completely indifferent to human life.
5. They are more or less influenced by "Realism".
6. "Naturalism" has its influence on Charles Darwin's Theory of Evolution, Karl Marx, Sigmund Freud's Theory of Psychology.
