Summary of Herbert's poem "Virtue".

Herbert's poem 'Virtue' continues the theme of immortality in a different way. In this shory but delicate poem Herbert  points out, in the first three stanzas, that all material objects of nature are transcient and that their beauty is short lived. As against this, the only permanent thing is the virtuous human soul. Even when the world ends, the soul will continue to live; infactthe word 'chiefly' in the last line suggests that the poet probably emphasizes the life of the soul after the death of the body.
