1) Why was the young Seagull afraid to fly? Do you think all young birds are afraid to make their first flight. Or are some birds more timid than others? Do you think a human baby also finds it a challenge to take its first steps?
Ans:- The young Seagull was afraid to fly because it was his life's first flight. He was also frightened about the vastness of the sea beneath his ledge.
It is an usual act for all the young birds because doing something for the first time is challenging.

2) "The sight of the food maddened him"- What does this suggest? What compelled the young seagull to finally fly?
Ans:- The young seagull was very hungry. It was this hunger that forced the young bird to fly. When the young seagull saw his mother tearing at a piece of fish that lay at her feet. It called to his mother, begging her to bring him some food.
Atlast the extreme hunger and the scene of food maddened the young bird and forced him to fly.
3) " They were beckoning to him, calling shrilly."- Why did the seagull's father and mother threaten him and cajole him to fly?
Ans:- The young seagull was very much frightened about flying first time. Even when he saw his brothers and sisters flying, catching their first fish and its parents helping and teaching them, it could not collect enough courage to make that first flight. So, his father and mother were calling him shrilly and scolding him. They also threatening to let him starve on his ledge unless he flew away. They did it because they also wanted to remove the fear of the bird and learn to fly.

Howrah, February 25- At least three persons were killed and seventy others were injured yesterday when a private bus skidded off the road and overturned. The accident occurred at 10 A.M. near a curve in front of Howrah Fire Brigade Station. The Howrah-bound private bus running at breakneck speed suddenly skidded off the road and overturned while negotiating the curve in front of the Fire Brigade Station. As a result, three persons were killed on the spot and 70 others were injured. The injured persons were removed to the Howrah general Hospital from where some were let off after they had been given first-aid. Others were hospitalised. An irate mob set fire to the passing vehicles. A contingent of police reached the spot and resorted to lathi-charge to disperse the angry crowd. Movement of traffic in the area was disrupted , resulting in traffic jam for about two hours before normalcy was restored.

Steps are being taken to prevent epidemics in the flood-hit areas.

Teachers' was observed in the ABC High School today. For this a cultural funtion was organised by the teachers and the students of the school. The function started at 8 a.m. and continued for three hours. Renowned teachers, acting and retired, of the area were among the respectables present. The greatest attraction of the day was Biman Kumar Sen, the Rashtrapati Award Winner teacher of the school. The teachers and the students, in their nice speeches made the audience spell bound. The retired teachers of the school were then awarded by the present Headmaster Rathin Deb. This was followed by distribution of sweets among the students. The entire programme created enthusiasm among the students who took oath to be good citizens of the country in future.

The sentences which express this are as follows:-

Ans:- The postmaster did not want to shake the writer's faith in God. So the postmaster came up with an idea that he will send the money to Lencho. Then he ask for money from employees and he himself gave part of his salary and several friends of his obiliged to give something 'for an act of charity'.
The postmaster signed the letter as God because he did not want to break lencho's faith in God and also it convey a message that God had himself written in the letter.
3) Did Lencho try to find out who had sent the money to him? why or why not?
Ans:- No, Lencho did not try to find out who had sent the money to him because of his much confidence in God. He believed that God had sent him the money. He never suspected that it could be someone else other than God who would send him the money.
4) Who does lencho think has taken the rest of the money? What is the irony of the situation?
Ans:- Lencho thinks that the rest of the money has taken by the post office employees.
The irony of the situation is that the staffs of the office who sent the money to Lencho but Lencho thinks that they have stolen the money. So, he calls them crook. That is the ironical situation in the story.

Ans:- I don't think there can be such type of people like Lencho in the real world. Lencho is much educated yet he does not know how his letter will reach God without any address.
