Rules for Paragraph Writing for Junior Classes (Class-1,2,3,4)

Some points should be remembered to write a paragraph:-

1. We must use the title for the paragraph. First letter of each should be capital. We can write the whole title in capital letters as well.

Eg. Environmental Pollution or ENVIRONMENTAL POLLUTION

2.  We should use short and simple sentences to avoid the grammatical mistakes.

3. A paragraph must have a logical development of thoughts and it should have an introduction, a body(main points) and a conclusion.

4. We can use the linkers to join the sentences.

5. When we'll end our writing, that must be concise. That means the reader must get a complete idea. He must not think that if there is something more, that will be great.

Sample Paragraph:-

                   OUR NATIONAL FLAG

We have a national flag which shows the independence of the nation or country. Our National Flag is a beautifully designed tricolour flag, also known as "Tiranga". Our National Flag is a symbol of unity and freedom. It was first time adopted on July 22 in 1947. It it rectangular in shape. It has three-coloured horizontal stripes. The topmost colour is saffron which symbolises sacrifice and selflessness, middle is white that is the colour of truth and purity and the lower is deep green that symbolises youthfulness and energy. It has a blue wheel at the centre that stands for activity and progress. The National Flag is very sacred to us. We love and respect our National Flag.

CBSE class X English First Flight solution and Extra questions of Chapter 3.

First Flight
Liam O' Flaherty

Thinking about the text.

1) Why was the young Seagull afraid to fly? Do you think all young birds are afraid to make their first flight. Or are some birds more timid than others? Do you think a human baby also finds it a challenge to take its first steps?

Ans:-  The young Seagull was afraid to fly because it was his life's first flight. He was also frightened about the vastness of the sea beneath his ledge.

It is an usual act for all the young birds because doing something for the first time is challenging.

Yes, a human baby also finds it a challenge to take its first steps.

2) "The sight of the food maddened him"- What does this suggest? What compelled the young seagull to finally fly?

Ans:- The young seagull was very hungry. It was this hunger that forced the young bird to fly. When the young seagull saw his mother tearing at a piece of fish that lay at her feet. It called to his mother, begging her to bring him some food.

Atlast the extreme hunger and the scene of food maddened the young bird and forced him to fly.

3) " They were beckoning to him, calling shrilly."- Why did the seagull's father and mother threaten him and cajole him to fly?
Ans:- The young seagull was very much frightened about flying first time. Even when he saw his brothers and sisters flying, catching their first fish and its parents helping and teaching them, it could not collect enough courage to make that first flight. So, his father and mother were calling him shrilly and scolding him. They also threatening to let him starve on his ledge unless he flew away. They did it because they also wanted to remove the fear of the bird and learn to fly.

Extra Questions and Answers :-

1) What happened when the seagull soared upwards?
Ans:- Soaring upwards, the young seagull developed confidence. He could feel the tips of his wings cutting through the air. He flapped his wings.
2) Why was the seagull afraid when he ran forward to the brink of the ledge?
Ans:- The wings would never support him. This made the seagull more fearful about flying across the vast sea that stretched down beneath, when he ran forward to the brink of the ledge.
3) What happened after the seagull's feet sank into the sea?
Ans:- Though the seagull's feet sank into the sea, he sank no further. His belly touched the surface of the sea and he kept floating on it with his family screaming and praising around him.
4) What did the young seagull do to attract his mother's attention?
Ans:- The seagull stood on the brink of the ledge on one leg with the other leg hidden under his wing. He closed each eye alternatively and pretended to be falling asleep.
5) How did the young seagull's parent treat him initially when he did not fly?
Ans:- Initially when the seagull was afraid to fly his parents used to call himm shrilly. They scolded him, threatened him and taunted him as cowar.
6) What lesson do you learn from this simple story?
Ans:- This story gives us a great lesson that any task is not so much difficult. But we have to take the risk and initiative and try our level best.
7) Why is it difficult to do something for the first time?
Ans:- It is very difficult to do something for the first time because one is not familiar with the task and has not gone through such experience.
8) How did he float on the green sea?
Ans:- He dropped his legs. His feet sank into the sea and then his belly touched it and he started floating on it.

1) Who does Lencho  have complete faith in? Which sentences in the story tell you this.
Ans: Lencho have complete faith in God.
The sentences which express this are as follows:-
i) But in the hearts of  all who lived in that solitary house in the middle of the valley, there was a single hope: help from God.
ii) "God", he wrote " if you don't help me , my family and I will go hungry this year".
iii) He wrote 'To God' on the envelope put the letter inside, and still troubled, went to town.
iv) It said: "God of the money that I asked for , only 70 pesos reached me since I need it very much. But don't send it to me through the mail because the post office employees are a bunch of crooks. Lencho"

2) Why does the postmaster send money to Lencho? Why does he sign the letter 'God'?
Ans:- The postmaster did not want to shake the writer's faith in God. So the postmaster came up with an idea that he will send the money to Lencho. Then he ask for money from employees and he  himself gave part of his salary and several friends of his obiliged to give something 'for an act of charity'.

The postmaster signed the letter as God because he did not want to break lencho's faith in God and also it convey a message that God had himself written in the letter.

3) Did Lencho try to find out who had sent the money to him? why or why not?

5) Are there people like lencho in the real world? What kind of a person would you say he is? You may select appropriate words from the box to answer the question.
Ans:- I don't think there can be such type of people like Lencho in the real world. Lencho is much educated yet he does not know how his letter will reach God without any address.

6) There are two kinds of conflict in the story between humans and nature, and between humans themselves. How are these conflicts illustrated?
Ans:- The conflict between humans and nature is created by the destruction of Lencho's crops by the hail storm. The crops destroyed by the hail, Lencho started feeling sad and gloomy after the storm significantly Shows the conflict of nature and the man. The story also presents another conflict between human themselves. The postmaster along with the help of the other staffs send the collected money to Lencho. They were not related to lencho in any manner. It was an act of charity and kindness on their part. But lencho blamed them that they took some money from his letter. This reflects the mistrust between human beings also.
